Somalia delegation arrives in Algeria for Arab Parliaments session

    Mogadishu (HOL) - A Somali parliamentary delegation, led by MP Saeed Mohamed Mohamud, arrived in Algeria to participate in the 36th session of the Union of Arab Parliaments. Mohamud, who serves on the union's executive committee, will represent the Somali Parliament and present its agenda at the conference.

    The delegation was welcomed by Algeria's Deputy Parliament Chairman, Zalem Zantar, at the airport in the capital.

    The conference in Algiers features participation from the Kingdom of Saudi     Arabia’s delegation, headed by Shura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh. The event draws heads of parliaments, delegation leaders, and representatives from various regional and international organizations.

    The session opened with a speech by Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, Acting Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union for this session. Al-Mandalawi stressed the importance of cooperation and communication among Arab parliaments, highlighting their role in partnering with governments to develop programs and address critical issues.

    Attendees will review agenda topics, including recent developments in the Arab region and the restructuring of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union’s permanent committees.
