Mogadishu (HOL) — Police in the Banadir region have arrested several suspects following a strategic operation against a series of robberies in Mogadishu's Wabari district, according to the Banadir Regional Police Command.
Early this morning, the Somali Police Force detained two young men accused of robbing local residents. The arrests occurred at approximately 3:45 AM on May 14, 2024, after authorities were tipped off about an ongoing robbery. The suspects, who were reportedly armed with knives and using a Bajaj motorcycle (registration RE Red M1B014/A 3547) to facilitate their crimes, were apprehended in the act.
Following their capture, police displayed photographs of the arrested individuals alongside the weapons used and the motorcycle involved in the crimes. The suspects are currently under investigation and are expected to be prosecuted swiftly.
The operation is part of a broader initiative by the Mogadishu police to tackle gang activity and improve safety across the Banadir region. The authorities have been conducting several operations targeting criminal gangs to curb the increasing robbery incidents in the area.
