Mogadishu (HOL) - The Supreme Clan Sultan of the Dhulbahante and the highest-ranking traditional leader in the SSC Khaatumo, Garad Jama Garad Ali, has warned Somaliland against launching an attack on Las Anod.
Garad Ali, who recently returned from a tour of the Sool and Sanaag regions, emphasized that their actions are purely defensive.
"We are not invading anyone else's land or property; our sole interest is to protect what is rightfully ours and to defend our territory," Garad Ali stated. He stressed that Lasaanood belongs to SSC Khatumo and that they have no intention of sharing it with anyone else. Addressing rumours, he added, "I hear people claiming that we are losing Lasaanood, but that is not the case."
Currently, Somaliland forces and SSC Khatumo are positioned in different areas of the Sool region. A Somaliland representative in Kenya recently declared that the Sool region will remain part of Somaliland, dismissing any possibility of separation.
Last month, a Somaliland military commander declared their intention to recapture Lasaanood, while SSC Khatumo officials have countered with threats to advance toward Eerigabo.
