Mogadishu (HOL) – Somali government forces, with support
from international partners, conducted an operation in the Mudug region on
Wednesday, killed at least 30 al-Shabab militants, according to government
sources.
The Ministry of Information of the Federal Government
announced in a press statement that the operation occurred in the Arfuuda area,
located approximately 20 kilometers from the town of Harardhere.
The joint forces targeted two key centers during the
operation: one used by the militant group for organizing attacks in the Mudug
region, and another where they were preparing explosives.
The operation follows closely after government forces in the
Hawadley area of the Middle Shabelle region thwarted an al-Shabab attack the
previous day. The involved mine explosions and intense fighting, marks the
third attempt by al-Shabaab in the Hawadley.
