Somali army kills 27 al-Shabab militants in a foiled attack in Jubbaland

    Kismayo (HOL) - At least 27 al-Shabab militants were killed in a foiled attack at Bar Sangouni, near Jamame district in the Lower Jubba region, the federal government announced on Friday.

    The Ministry of Information stated in a release that government forces received intelligence that led to the prevention of the attack. It added that several members of the group were captured alive during the operation.

    The statement further noted that federal troops, supported by the Jubbaland state army and international partners, conducted the operation without mentioning any casualties on their side.

    Photos taken from the bodies of the killed militants have been circulating on social media since Thursday, showing members of the group who were killed, wounded, and captured alive.
