Reciting the Quran is an essential practice and holds great importance in our religion. The act of reciting the Quran involves the articulation of the words of Allah and reading its verses. The Quran brings spiritual benefits and helps us connect with Allah. Moreover, the recitation of the Quran is not just limited to reading, but also includes understanding and reflecting upon its meaning.


One of the significant benefits of reciting the Quran is the spiritual elevation it provides. Reciting Quran has a calming effect on the mind and soul and helps in creating a peaceful and harmonious environment. It helps in reducing stress and anxiety and provides mental clarity. Furthermore, the recitation of Quran helps in purifying the heart and soul, which is essential for attaining a closer relationship with Allah. Reciting the Quran also provides protection from evil and misfortune as it’s a means of seeking Allah’s blessing, forgiveness, and protection.


There are various practical tools, strategies, and tips that can help you strengthen your relationship with the Quran. Here are some of them:


§  Make a schedule for Quran reading: Set aside a specific time each day for reading the Quran. This can be early in the morning, after prayers, or before bedtime. Consistency is key, so try to stick to your schedule.

 

§  Understand the Quran: Try to learn and understand the verses you are reading. You can use translations and commentaries to help you understand the Quran better. Reflecting the meaning of the Quran can help you to apply it to your daily life.


§  Recite Quran regularly: Reciting Quran regularly has numerous benefits, both spiritual and mental. You can start with a small portion and gradually increase the mount you recite.

 

§  Attend Quran classes: Joining a Madrassa, or Quran teaching group can be beneficial, as it provides an opportunity to learn from others and discuss Quranic teachings. It also helps in keeping you motivated and accountable.

 

§  Memorize Quran: Memorizing Quran is a significant achievement for everyone who wants to strengthen their relationship with the Quran. It requires regular practice and can be done by repeating small portions each day.

 

§  Listen to Quran recitations: listening to recitations of Quran while commuting or doing chores can be a great way to connect with the meaning of the Quran.

 

§  Act upon the teaching of the Quran: The Quran contains practical guidance on how to live a good and righteous life, to strengthen your relationship with the Quran, try to act upon its teachings. For example, the Quran teaches us to be kind and compassionate to others, try to practice these virtues in your daily life. The more you apply the teachings of the Quran to your life, the more you will feel its impact on your spiritual growth and wellbeing.


Learning and reciting the Quran is the fundamental and primary source of guidance for every muslim, it is a source of inspiration, wisdom, and spiritual nourishment, and it holds a central place in the practice of our religion, and we should all strive to understand and implement its teaching in our daily lives.
