Nairobi (HOL) - The two-day Hawadle Clan Consultation Conference, attended by elders, politicians, and businesspeople, concluded in Nairobi on Saturday.

The communiqué expresses condolence to the victims of the ongoing anti-al-Shabaab operations in Hiiraan and other parts of the country.

However, they commended Mustafe Cagjar, the President of the Somali region in Ethiopia, for his support in these operations, as well as the other clans of Hirshabelle and Galmudug for their participation and fought alongside the local Hawadle clan militia forces, "Ma'awisley," against al-Shabaab.

The elders also emphasized the importance of the United States, Turkey, and ATIMIS in the fight against al-Shabaab.

The clan expressed sadness about the political structure of the Hirshabelle administration due to the quick formation of the state. According to the communiqué, the central government is required to correct the power-sharing process of the Hirshabelle regional state immediately.

The Hawadle clan's communiqué also stated that the clan's representation in the central government is lower than the Hawadle clan's status. As a result, they urged President Hassan Sheikh and Prime Minister Hamse to address the matter.

The clan called for an immediate end to the violence in Las Anod town by Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo forces, which  has claimed the lives of over 170 people, including a mother and her seven children. Over 500 people have been injured, and more casualties are expected as the fighting continues.

Beledweyne, located about 300 kilometers north of Mogadishu, has recently been the center of a local community mobilization against al-Shabaab. Local officials, including the governor of Hiran region, Ali Jeyte Osman, led community forces who fought alongside Somali government forces, seizing dozens of villages from the militant group.

The clan militia forces liberated mostly their areas in the Hiiraan region with the federal government's support and international airstrikes.
