Qatar Charity launches 'Delight them with your Udhiyah' campaign

Tuesday June 14, 2022

Qatar Charity (QC) launched the Udhiyah campaign for this year (1443 AH) aimed at providing about 50,000 sacrifices of sheep and cows in 39 countries around the world, including Qatar.

Under the slogan, "Delight them with your Udhiyah… for a dignified life", the campaign is expected to benefit about 1mn people at a total cost of more than QR29mn.

According to QC, the campaign focuses on distributing Udhiyah within Qatar, countries in crisis and currently affected areas by drought, particularly Somalia, as well as communities in a number of African, Asian, and European countries.

Saud al-Maadeed, director of the Media Department; Abdullah al-Dosari, director of the Social Welfare Department; and Yousef Abdullah al-Khulaifi, head of Programmes and Rehabilitation Department, spoke at a press conference to announce the campaign details.

They thanked and appreciated the benefactors for their support of QC’s campaigns and projects throughout the year. The officials also urged the donors in Qatar, on the occasion of the approaching blessed month of Dhul-Hijjah, to take advantage of its double wages and hurry to donate to the Udhiyah campaign for QC, in order to reach the largest number of people.

The launch of the campaign coincides with famine sweeping many African countries, threatening the lives of more than 20mn people in Africa alone due to drought and the significantly high prices.

The United Nations had recently warned that nearly half of Somalia’s population (7.1mn people), by next September, will face food insecurity due to an unprecedented drought in 40 years. Some 1.4mn Somali children are also facing severe malnutrition.

The campaign in Qatar aims to provide 3,713 sacrifices, benefiting nearly 30,000 people, at a cost of more than QR3mn, with the goal of expanding on the target groups, in addition to 1,450 children benefiting from Eid clothing at a cost of QR580,000.

The Udhiyah will be distributed to orphans and their families who are sponsored by QC and families with low incomes in the outer regions (the North - Al Khor - Al Wakra), in addition to workers across the country, people with special needs, and students.

The campaign projects inside Qatar also include distributing Eid clothes to 1,450 people, benefiting 450 orphans and 1,000 children from low-income families, with the aim of drawing a smile on their faces on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha.

The campaign also dedicated educational activities and events in commercial malls accompanying the “Delight them with your Udhiyah” slogan, including the “Haj Journey” event for children by designing models for Haj rituals and distributing Ihram clothes for them. Furthermore, there is an information challenge corner, a virtual reality corner, and a tour of the Grand Mosque and the rituals of Haj, in addition to the "Hajjat Al-Eid" festival, which targets orphans and their families.

With regards to outside Qatar, the campaign aims to distribute approximately 46,255 sacrifices in 39 African, Asian, and European countries, with 925,102 people expected to benefit at a cost of approximately QR25.6mn.

The campaign focuses on regions and countries that witness exceptional events and circumstances such as the displaced inside Syria, Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries and Palestine, those affected in Yemen and affected by the drought, especially in Somalia, in addition to the poorest groups in other targeted countries.

The countries in which the Udhiyah will be distributed include: Palestine, Somalia, Tunisia, Lebanon, Sudan, Kenya, Mali, Togo, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Benin, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Philippines, Albania, Bosnia, Ghana, Turkey, Jordan, Ethiopia, Senegal, Chad and Yemen, in addition to Montenegro, Tanzania, South Africa, Morocco, Djibouti, Mauritania, Burundi, Gambia, Niger, in addition to Malaysia and Indonesia.

Benefactors and donors wishing to donate to the Udhiyah campaign can do so easily and safely, through QC’s website (www.qch.qa/adha) and application (www.qch.qa/app).

The "home collector" can also be requested through the QC application qch.qa/App. The system automatically locates the donor on the map and sends his/her request to the nearest "collector" and receives his donations, or by calling the call center at: 44667711.

Donations can also be made through the headquarters office of QC and its 26 branches. In addition, donation can be made through collection points and funds spread across different regions across the country.
