8th Annual North America Quran recitation competition concludes in Minnesota

Mogadishu (HOL) -  The North American Qur'anic Competition came to an end on Friday in Minnesota, and the top contestants received awards. ‎

Fartun Abdulqadir Wako, who won the Imam Al-Shatibi Koran competition, was awarded a cash prize worth $56,000, a 2022 Toyota Highlander Platinum and a scholarship to the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia.

Adeeb Bari from Texas placed second during the recitation competition. He received a Toyota Highlander Platinum, a cash prize worth $10,000 and a full scholarship to the Islamic University of Madina. 

The third winner, Ahmed Bashir Adan of Tennessee, received a full scholarship to the Islamic University of Madinah and $15,000 in cash. 

This year, businessman Abdirahman Isse Kahin participated in the awarding ceremony of the Koran competition and handed out the distinguished prizes to the competition's top three contestants. ‎

The tournament, now in its eighth year, was created to highlight the value of the Holy Qur'an and the need for education among Somalis residing in the diaspora.
