JOWHAR (HOL) - HirShabelle state parliament is today electing senators following lengthy delays that have seen the exercise which was set to conclude on July 28 drag for more than one and half months.
The regional MPs will be picking eight senators from a list of 27 candidates. One seat will be contested by women only.
All candidates addressed the state parliament on Monday ahead of today’s vote.
HirShabelle is allocated eight seats in the Upper House alongside Galmudug, Jubaland and South West while Puntland and Somaliland get 11 seats.
