HARGEISA (HOL) - The Chief Justice of Somaliland, Adan Haji Ali has disclosed that the judiciary has received 23 election disputes emerging from the just concluded Local and Parliamentary elections.
The chief justice said they received a total of 25 petitions, but two former candidates withdrew their case. Candidates filed the cases challenging the results of the National Electoral Commission.
According to the Chief Justice of Somaliland, Adan Haji Ali, the hearing of the petitions officially kicked off today.
The Chief Justice said that after the announcement of the official results of the election, the President of Somaliland will convene a meeting of all members of the house of representatives within 30 days.
After that, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear cases filed by candidates who are dissatisfied with the preliminary results of the elections.
