MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somali army said Saturday it had wrested control of a village in Kismayo, Lower Jubba region from the militant group Al-Shabaab.
A military official quoted by the state media said the Forces had taken control of Janaay Abdalle located some 60 kilometers west of Kismayo.
The official added ‘several’ militants were killed and others captured alive.
The capture of Janaay Abdalle adds to an increasing number of localities in the Lower Shabelle and Jubba regions which have fallen off the stranglehold of the militant group.
Meanwhile Jubbaland Forces have continued their offensives against Al-Shabaab pushing them from the Afmadow-Kismayo road where the militants run checkpoints to collect money from motorists.
