Police in Nauru have closed an investigation into the alleged rape of a Somali woman in Nauru, citing a lack of evidence.The government has released the detailed police report of the incident, including the woman's name.According to the report, the Somali woman says she was raped and physically assaulted by two men in a cave, in the Ewa district on August 21st.
The woman says she was unable to identify them because they had covered their faces with t-shirts, however she says they spoke Nauruan.
The investigation concluded there was insufficient medical and physical evidence to proceed any further, with the police report noting a medical examination found no evidence of sexual activity, nor evidence of bruising to the head.
The report added the caves where the attack allegedly took place could not be located, and the clothes recovered were not torn as she had claimed.
The Nauru Police have recommended the case be closed.
