The wives of the ousted Al Shabab militants were ordered to leave the southern port town of Kismayo within two days or otherwise they will face punishment.

The call was made through loudspeakers mounted on a Toyota Pickup car telling the wives of Al Shabab militants still hiding in the town, they had been given an ultimatum of 48 hours to vacate Kismayo.

The Al Shabab militants’ wives are suspected of spying for their husbands who were forced out of the town about two years ago. “You must leave the town before the deadline expires” the wives were told through loud speakers on Thursday.

Recently, the minister for public affairs of the regional interim Jubba administration Moalim Mohamed Ibrahim said that his administration will take hard steps against the wives of Al Shabab militants who are still in the town.

For the past several weeks, regional forces have been conducting daily security operations to prevent possible terrorist attacks or targeted assassinations against regional officials.
