The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) airlifted water to allied troops in the Somali town of Jana Abdalla to alleviate a water shortage after al-Shabaab poisoned water sources, Kenya's The Star reported Monday (September 24th).
"There has been a problem of water in Jana Abdalla after al-Shabaab put poison in one well and vandalised the other well," said KDF spokesman Colonel Cyrus Oguna.
Jana Abdalla is one of several strategic positions surrounding Kismayo captured in the past two weeks by the Somali National Army and Kenyan forces under the African Union Mission in Somalia.
