Baidoa (HOL) – The administration of Somalia’s South West
State has announced that it will take firm action against individuals accused
of inciting inter-clan conflicts, promoting violence, and encouraging revenge
killings.
Senior officials, including the Minister of Interior, Local
Government, and Reconciliation, said the administration has intensified peace
efforts by engaging traditional elders, community leaders, and local
authorities to end ongoing tensions in conflict-prone areas.
The minister noted that some individuals living outside the
affected regions have been spreading inflammatory messages that fuel violence
and deepen divisions, warning that the government will not tolerate anyone who
undermines peace and stability.
“There are people outside the conflict zones who are
inciting violence and spreading hate messages. The administration will take
strict legal action against anyone found responsible for fueling instability,”
the minister said.
Meanwhile, the South West State Ministry of Interior
confirmed that a preliminary peace agreement has been reached to end recent
clashes in the Diinsoor area of Bay region, where armed militias had been
fighting over clan disputes.
The ministry emphasized that the administration will
continue to pursue those who attempt to divide communities or reopen past
grievances, stressing that anyone who violates the peace will be held
accountable.
“The government is committed to restoring peace and
strengthening reconciliation among brotherly clans. Anyone who spreads hatred
or incites violence will be brought to justice,” the ministry said in a
statement.
The South West administration also urged residents to
support ongoing peace initiatives and to report anyone attempting to reignite
clan conflicts to the nearest security agencies.
