Beled Hawo (HOL) — Security forces in Beled Hawo district,
Gedo region, have arrested a man suspected of planning a terrorist attack
during a night operation on Tuesday.
According to the Somali National Army (SNA) media outlet,
the suspect—whose identity has not been released due to ongoing
investigations—was apprehended while attempting to plant two landmines in a key
area frequently used by civilians and security vehicles.
Officials said the explosives were likely intended to target
military convoys and local residents. The suspect was reportedly found in
possession of tools used to plant the mines, further indicating his intent to
carry out the attack.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine
whether the suspect has links to terrorist organizations or other networks,
either domestic or foreign.
Security officials praised the residents of Beled Hawo for
their vigilance and cooperation with security agencies, urging them to remain
alert and continue sharing information that could help prevent future threats.
