Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on
Thursday chaired the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers in Mogadishu,
focusing on accelerating state-building efforts and improving public services.
During the session, President Mohamud urged ministers to
strengthen cooperation, accountability, and transparency across all government
operations.
Ministers briefed the President on recent achievements in
security, the economy, and governance. They noted that over the past six
months, Somali forces have inflicted significant losses on al-Shabaab, while
also enhancing the training and equipment of the National Army.
The Council also discussed the upcoming 2026 national
budget, emphasizing that the planned increase in spending will prioritize investments
in health, education, and other essential social services.
President Mohamud called on the Council of Ministers to
actively engage in the country’s democratization process to build public trust
and reinforce the unity and image of the Somali state.
