Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali government has expressed deep
sorrow and sincere condolences to the government and people of Qatar following
the deaths of three Qatari officials in a car crash near the Egyptian Red Sea
resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The Qatari Embassy in Cairo said on Sunday that all three
victims worked for the Amiri Diwan, the administrative office of Qatari Emir
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
In a statement, the Somali government reaffirmed its
solidarity with Qatar, praying for mercy upon the deceased and comfort for
their families.
“The Federal Republic of Somalia affirms its full solidarity
with the leadership, government, and people of the brotherly State of Qatar. We
ask Almighty Allah to shower mercy upon the deceased, grant them a place in
Paradise, and give patience and solace to their families, colleagues, and the
people of Qatar,” the statement read.
According to the Qatari Embassy, two other officials were
injured in the accident and are currently receiving medical treatment at a
hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh.
