Both sides agreed on the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation to explore new trade and development opportunities and to further expand the historic ties between Somalia and Iraq.

In August 2025, an Iraqi delegation led by General Ziyad Daha Ali, Adviser to the Minister of Interior, and Lieutenant General Al Anshoor Manaati, Director of the International Cooperation Department at Iraq’s Ministry of Interior, visited Mogadishu on an official mission.

That visit focused on strengthening the brotherly relationship between the two countries, with particular emphasis on security collaboration, counterterrorism, police training, and the exchange of expertise.
