Nairobi (HOL) – The Somali embassy in Nairobi officially inaugurated a new mosque on Sunday, funded through generous donations from Sultan Hussein Ali, a prominent member of the Eastleigh Business District Association (EBDA).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Somalia's Ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, EBDA members, Somali elders, religious leaders, and Kamukunji Member of Parliament (MP) Yusuf Hassan.
EBDA chairman Ahmed Abdullahi Yare explained that the decision to build the mosque came after Ambassador Jabril reached out to the association for support.
"Sultan Hussein is a great giver. Anytime we face a challenge that requires funding, he is always among the first to contribute. He cares about the youth and businesses in Eastleigh," said Yare.
MP Yusuf Hassan also praised Sultan Hussein for his generous contribution to the mosque's construction and acknowledged Ambassador Jabril's efforts in uniting the community to make the project a reality. The mosque was built at the embassy of Somalia.
