Mogadishu (HOL) — The Governor of the Banaadir Region and
Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), has announced the
replacement of two district commissioners as part of a broader push to enhance
urban development, public service delivery, and community stability in the
Somali capital.
In a directive issued on Wednesday, Mr. Omar Meeyre Mo’ow was
appointed as the new commissioner of Dharkeenleey District, replacing Mr.
Mohamoud Haji Ali Fidow. Meanwhile, Mr. Husein Hassan Mohamoud was named
commissioner of Waaberi District, succeeding Mr. Mohamed Sayid Ali.
Mayor Muungaab urged the new district leaders to prioritize
the modernization and beautification of their districts while ensuring
efficient access to essential services for residents.
“Mogadishu, as the nation’s capital and an economic engine,
is undergoing rapid urbanization and population growth. Strong local leadership
is vital to meet the evolving needs of our communities,” the mayor stated.
The appointments mark the first administrative changes by
Governor Muungaab since assuming office three days ago. Further restructuring
across other districts in the Banaadir Region may follow in the coming days as
the new administration seeks to strengthen local governance.
