Somali and Turkmenistan education ministers discuss bilateral cooperation

Mogadishu (HOL) – Somali Minister of Education, Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, held a video conference with his Turkmenistan counterpart, J. Gurbandeldiyev, on Monday to enhance bilateral relations in education, culture, and technology.

Somali Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Fathudin Ali Muhammad, based in Ankara, also participated in the meeting, which focused on promoting university-level education and collaboration between the two nations.

Turkmenistan's Minister of Education expressed his appreciation for Somalia's interest in strengthening educational ties, outlining Turkmenistan's educational achievements on the international stage and future goals.

Minister Gurbandeldiyev proposed that Somali representatives participate in international conferences, exhibitions, and competitions for schoolchildren and university students hosted by Turkmenistan.

In response, Somali Minister of Education Abdulqadir expressed gratitude for the invitation and emphasized Somalia's commitment to establishing educational partnerships with Turkmenistan.

Minister Abdulqadir proposed organizing a series of virtual meetings to facilitate knowledge exchange between higher education institutions from both countries, viewing this as a crucial step in deepening educational cooperation.

Both ministers expressed optimism about the prospects for collaboration, hoping the partnership would be mutually beneficial for Somalia and Turkmenistan in the educational sector, according to the Somali Ministry of Education.
