Beledweyne (HOL) - At least four combatants were killed in heavy fighting near Beledweyne between al Shabab insurgents and Somali government forces backed by local anti-al Shabab clan militia.
The fighting erupted after SNA and allied forces attacked a compound in Berhano village where militants had gathered to launch an attack on government forces on Wednesday.
Residents claim that the battle, which lasted more than an hour, was intense and that various weapons were used.
SNA Officials told local media that the war resulted in heavy losses for al-Shabab, though they did not specify how many militants were killed.
The officials added that the forces liberated villages, including Behano, Tarashante, and Dhoqor, located in the southern part of Beledweyne.
