Road accident in Middle Shabelle kills intelligence agents

    Mogadishu (HOL) - At least two government intelligence soldiers were killed, and eight others were injured when a military vehicle they were travelling in overturned in the vicinity of Bal'ad town in the Middle Shabelle region.

    According to the resident, the vehicle was en route to Bal'ad from Mogadishu.

    The injured soldiers were transported to Mogadishu and are being treated for their injuries.

    Government officials have not yet commented on the incident.

    The Director of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency, Mahad Mohamed Salad, and other military commanders are in Bal'ad district to morally support the government forces in the ongoing offensive against al Shabab in the Middle and Lower Shabelle region.

    Somali National Army (SNA) forces backed by the local pro-government militia group Ma'awisley recently recaptured the district from al Shabab.

    Mogadishu's Police Commissioner, Farhan Mohamoud Adan' Qarole', was killed in a roadside bomb attack near Bal'ad district, 35km north of Somalia’s capital, on Friday.

    The explosion killed the commander, his two bodyguards, and the Somali state media's police correspondent on Friday morning near Bal'ad district, 35km north of Mogadishu.
