Dr. Beileh made the statement in a letter addressed to the Office of the Attorney General on Sunday.

The Minister added that under Article 3, Paragraph 2, Letter B, of Law No. 18 of 29 January 1978, the Office of the Attorney General is responsible for defending the government before the courts.

"In compliance with the above rule, and to refrain from violating the responsibilities and duties of the Attorney General, I respectfully suggest that your (Attorney General) office complies with the procedures and rules laid down for managing government and state affairs."

Beileh was summoned to appear before the Attorney General's office on Monday to answer questions related to the nation's finances. The letter did not elaborate on the reason or specify whether the Minister of Finance was under investigation.

Beileh is scheduled to address the Somali parliament on Monday, where lawmakers are expected to vote on the 2022 federal budget, which was approved by the cabinet in late May.
