Mogadishu (HOL) - Residents of Mogadishu can now enjoy a triple internet package of TV, telephone and data thanks to the roll-out of fibre optic internet services by Somlink Telecom.
Launched in 2020, the fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service provides high-quality Internet, TV and smart home services. Recent expansions of the service now cover Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) in Mogadishu and surrounding areas.
Somlink has since laid out fibre optic cables covering an area of 340kms. Somlink Telecom CEO Abdifitah Keynaan Said notes that the company has invested heavily in mobile broadband services to provide its clients with the best offer possible.
“We have been investing in fiber rollouts at the same time as we have been expanding our 2G and 4G mobile broadband coverage. Our idea is that customers will "snack" on their mobile devices and "feast" on their fixed home broadband,” said Abdifatah.
Mogadishu city population can now enjoy Somlink GiGaFiber speed in their business or their homes, Somlink said in a statement.
Besides the triple play of data, TV and telephone, Somlink provides 2G/4G LTE mobile internet, eBESA Mobile money and National MPLS (VPN) service and Global VPN connectivity to the rest of world.
Somlink said it is also projecting into 5G data market in coming years.
