Ottawa (HOL) - Ahmed Hussen will remain in Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's cabinet as the Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, despite a shakeup that will see several key positions going to new ministers.

Trudeau's new cabinet was unveiled during a swearing-in ceremony in Ottawa.

Hussen held cabinet positions as the Immigration and Social Development Minister under Trudeau's Liberal government. Hussen's housing ministry is one of the new portfolios created by the Trudeau government.

Hussen fended off NDP challenger Hawa Mire, a fellow Somali-Canadian, last month to secure his third term as federal MP for York South-Weston. He's represented the riding in the House of Commons since 2015.

Hussen came to Canada as a refugee at 16 years old before becoming a lawyer and adviser to former Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty.

Overall, Trudeau's new cabinet added nine new ministers and removed three.

There are now 39 ministers, including Trudeau — two more than his last cabinet.
