TORONTO (HOL) - Somalia-Canadian MP Ahmed Hussein took oath office Wednesday following his re-lection as MP for York South-Weston constituency in Canada.
Hussein who is now starting his second term in office was re-elected on a Liberal Party ticket last month.
He was first elected to the same seat in 2015 and was subsequently appointed Immigration Minister in 2017.
Hussein expressed gratitude in a Tweet for his swearing in. “Grateful everyday that in Canada this is possible. Thank you to my friends & family for being at my swearing in ceremony as the Member of Parliament for the incredible people of York South-Weston,” said Hussein.
Born in Mogadishu, Hussein and his family relocated to Kenya before settling in Canada
