Mogadishu (HOL) - Three aid workers have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in central Somalia on Thursday afternoon.
According to local reports, three humanitarian workers with Save the Children have been taken at gunpoint by unknown assailants 10 km outside of Beledweyne.
According to a local reporter, the trio was conducting research on the rough situation in Somalia before they were taken hostage. They are believed to be ethnic Somali's and not foreign workers.
Save the Children did comment on the kidnapping.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility. The case is currently being investigated by Hirshabelle regional security forces.
