Somaliland MP passes away after bout with illness

Mr. Gedi was a Member of Parliament representing Somaliland

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali MP Said Hassan Gedi passed away on Monday in Mogadishu. The Somaliland MP had been battling an illness and passed away at Dig-Feer hospital.

His illness kept him from casting his vote on Wednesday’s election, the only sitting MP who did not vote for the president.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo released a statement extending his condolences to the Gedi family their time of mourning.

“I extend my condolences to the people of Somalia, the Parliament and the family of the late Said Hassan Gedi who until his dead was a member of Parliament. Gedi sacrificed a lot in serving the people of his country."
