Sen. Looks Forward to Working with New President MohamedAbdullahi Mohamed “Farmajo” On Issues Important to Minnesota’s Somali Community
“This week, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed was sworn in as the new President of Somalia. This peaceful transfer of power to a new leader will be important to future relations between our two countries.
newsinsdie“My home state of Minnesota has the largest Somali community outside of Somalia, and it is notable that President Mohamed, who goes by the nickname “Farmajo,” has dual Somali-American citizenship. His many years of working, teaching, and studying in the United States will be critically important for Somali-U.S. relations. I look forward to working with his new administration on important issues that impact both of our countries, especially those that affect Somali-Minnesotans and their families living in Somalia.
