The aim of the assessment was to determine the usefulness of the training given to AU peacekeepers and identify gaps with the view of improving the training. The areas assessed include; Gender, International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law, Conduct and Discipline as well as Civilian Casualty Tracking, Analysis and Response Cell (CCTARC).

The team assessed the training as satisfactory under the given circumstances and noted a number of challenges that inhibit training, notable among them the difficulties of pulling officers together from the frontlines for training once deployed and language barrier.
