Michael Armstrong-Jones, left, loads donated clothes.
HALF a tonne of clothes are on their way to east Africa after a man organised a clothing collection drive.
Single father of one Michael Armstrong-Jones, 50, a freelance photographer, of Turner Avenue, Lawford, started the clothes collection in March after watching news footage of Somalian children dressed in rags.
He said: “I saw footage about how poor the people are which really brought home the realities of what was going on there.
“You could see the children were dressed in rags and I thought I would do something about it.
“I just wanted the clothes to go to the people who don’t have them.
“It was hard work and frustrating but re-warding at the end of the day.
“It’s been a hugely successful campaign and many families will benefit from it."
