The Kenya Police have mounted a door-to-door search for suspected Al Shabaab sympathisers who killed two police officers in Garissa in the country's North-eastern Province Sunday night and snatched their weapons.

The  officers were guarding a state-owned technical training institute in the town when the suspected terrorists killed them and ran way with their AK 47 rifles.

The attack took place about eight hours after suspected Al-Shabab sympathisers hurled a hand grenade at children attending a Sunday School at the St Polycarp Church in Nairobi, killing one child and wounding eight others.

Security sources here believe Al Shabaab terrorists and their sympathisers in Kenya have intensified their attacks, after the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and their Somali counterparts captured Somalia's port city of Kismayo Friday.

The KDF are part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces, who are fighting the Al-Shabaab terrorists in Somalia.

In the Nairobi incident on Sunday, nine-year-old Ian Mbugua died after sustaining serious injuries in the grenade attack.

Police have launched a serious manhunt for the suspected criminals.

Meanwhile, Kenya'a First Lady Lucy Kibaki has condemned the church attack.

In a statement, she described the attack as 'a cowardly act on innocent children' and condoled with the family of the victims.
