A Nairobi court on Tuesday (July 24th) adjourned the trial of two Iranians accused of possessing explosives allegedly for use in bomb attacks in Kenya, AFP reported.
Ahmed Mohammad and Sayed Mansour were arrested in June and charged with carrying 15 kilograms of RDX, a powerful explosive, with the intention to use it in terrorist attacks in Nairobi and Mombasa. They are also suspected of having links to terrorist organisations. Both men denied the charges.
The trial opened on Monday, but the hearing was cut short on the second day of proceedings and pushed to August 3rd, when a new date is expected to be set for the resumption of the trial.
Several terrorist attacks have occurred throughout Kenya since the Kenya Defence Forces entered Somalia last October to fight al-Shabaab, including grenade attacks at a bar in Mombasa, a bus station in Nairobi and two churches in Garissa.
