AU peacekeepers welcome talks among Somali factions

Mogadishu, Somalia (APA)   African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), has welcomed ongoing talks in the main Bakaro Market in Mogadishu between Hawiye clan elders, young religious movement of Al-shabaab and business men to tackle insecurity in the capital.

The commander of AMISOM, General Francis Okello, has described the move as "a significant development" in attaining peace in the country.

Al-shabaab young religious movement vowed last moth to increase their attacks against foreigner troops in Somalia during the holy month of Ramadan.

It battled with insurgents and African Union troops in Mogadishu leading tot he death of about 236 while injuring 340 with over 40,000 displaced, according to Elman Peace and Human Right Organization.
