Mogadishu, Somalia (HOL) - Mogadishu regional administration has announced it plans to issue new IDs to TFG troops. In a response to a question about armed groups dressed in government uniforms who commit robbery and other violent acts against Mogadishu residents, the Deputy Governor of Mogadishu Mr. Abdifatah Ibrahim Sabriye Shaweye said that they are aware of these groups and that their administration will take concrete steps to combat them including the issuance of new ID to TFG troops.
“Armed soldiers without proper identification showing their picture would not be allowed to be in civilian areas”, said Mr. Shaweye who received a lot complaints from the city’s residents about armed groups dressed in government uniforms who commit robbery and other illegal acts.
The announcement from the Deputy comes after a series of recent robberies and other acts of violence against residents in the city committed by armed groups in government uniforms.
