Galkayo (HOL) - Two Al-Shabaab members responsible for the murder of clan elder Abdiqani Hassan Wallore, who was assassinated in Galkayo in June of this year, were given the death penalty by the Puntland military court.
Salad Mohamed Abdi and Abukar Abdi Abdirahman (Gobe) received death sentences after acknowledging their involvement in the clan elder's murder.
Salad Mohamed Abdi admitted to assassinating Wallore in the early morning as he was leaving Ma'mur Mosque in the Galkayo area. Abukar Abdi Abdirahman (Gobe) confessed to being the principal organizer.
The two were apprehended by Puntland personnel nearly two months after the murder and brought to court five months after their arrest.
Without a successful appeal, they will be executed by a firing squad at a later date.
