SESEDA hosts community BBQ fundraiser for Godey Children's Hospital

Ottawa (HOL) - A fundraiser barbecue hosted by SESEDA, Somali-Ethiopian Social and Economic Development Association took place at Ottawa’s Vincent Massey Park on August 27th. Proceeds of the funds from the community are dedicated to a children’s hospital in Godey, a town in the Somali inhabited region of Ethiopia.

SESEDA is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to developing marginalized communities in pastoral Ethiopia.

The event was sponsored by local businesses and attended by City of Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson.
Over 200 people came together to enjoy a sunny Saturday afternoon with activities and events for the kids as well as live musical performances.

SESEDA would like to thank those who made possible to this fundrasisng including the following sponosers: Nasser Travel, Barwaqo Food Center, Mango's, Alta Jubba Supper Market, Shifa Restaurent, Far Jano Restaurent, Amal Express, Dahabshiil, Hiiraan Online, Somali Center Family Services, Sambuza Village, Mr. Beef, Matar Restaurant, New Middle East Market, Mohamed Egeh Realtor, Al Madina Halaal Meat Packers, Matar Slaughter House and Shafie Food Center

In late June an important medical supply was sent to Jigjiga General Hospital by SESEDA. The medical supply included 44 hospital beds, 14 machines for monitoring blood and additional lab blood test equipment.

This key shipment was made possible by generous donations of medical gear from the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and Villa Marconi long-term care centre, both located in the Canadian capital, Ottawa.

SESEDA is a non-profit development organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the people in the Somali State of Ethiopia
