Garawe (HOL) - Somalia’s Puntland president Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gaas has fired nine key ministers in an anticipated cabinet reshuffle on late Tuesday. Puntland’s state house spokesman Abudlahi Jama who convened media for the reshuffle has cited the list.
Among those ministers the president has appointed are nine new faces. The president sacked education minister Ali Haji Warsame who was president’s right hand for the past 11 months. No deputy ministers and state ministers were nominated in the reshuffle.
The reshuffle was delayed several times due to political differences between President Gaas and his deputy Abdihakin Amey over Ahmed Abdi Haabsade who has defected from Somaliland on august 2014.
Below is the list of newly appointed Ministers in the reshuffle:
1) Saalax Xabiib Xaaji appointed to Ministry of Justice
2 ) Abdi Hersi Qarjab appointed to the Ministry of security
3) Abshir Aw-Yousuf Ise appointed to Minister of higher education
4) Abdulaahi Shikh Ahmed appointed to Minister of finance.
5) Faysal Cabdi Cali Gaas appointed to Minister of constitution and Federalism affairs
6) Abdi Jamaal Osman appointed to ministry of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry
7) Ali Abdulaahi Warsame appointed to ministry of environment
8) Dr. Abdinaasir Osman Isse appointed to health minster
9) Abdulaahi Ali Hersi, minister of agriculture and irrigation
In a surprise move, the newly appointed minster of environment Ali Abdulahi has resigned from the post, saying the president has taken the decision without prior consultation over his selection. The long waited reshuffle also removed several DG officials from their post.
