The Somali parliament's Monday (November 24th) session again devolved into chaos as lawmakers prepared for the third time to debate a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, Somalia's Goobjoog News reported.

Copies of the no confidence motion were distributed to members of parliament, but the lawmakers against the motion tore up their copies.

When Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari entered the hall to open the session, the lawmakers started shouting.

Opposing lawmakers shredded the attendance register and disabled the loud speakers in the hall to disrupt the session.

Jawari returned to his office, with most in favour of the motion walking out of the hall.

"The speaker of parliament has decided not to re-open the [no-confidence motion] until there is a solution for the chaos and the widespread disorder," Jawari said in a statement released from his office later in the day.

The members of the two camps are planning to hold separate meetings in Mogadishu.

The no-confidence motion requires a simple majority of the total members to succeed in removing Ahmed from his post.
